Još jedna, 96. dodjela najprestižnije filmske nagrade Oscar prošla je uz dosta iznenađenja. Pozlaćeni kipići u najvećem broju stigli su filmu Oppenheimer, koji je proglašen filmom godine, Christopher Nolan najboljim redateljem, Cillian Murphy otišao je kući s Oscarom za najbolju mušku ulogu, Robert Downey Jr. za najbolju mušku sporednu ulogu, a film je nagrađen i za najbolju kinematografiju te za najbolju izvornu glazbu. Najbolja glumica je Emma Stone u filmu Poor Things, koji je dobio četiri kipića. Najvećim gubitnikom ove godine smatra se glumac Bradley Cooper u Maestru.
